Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Disrupted sleep from room location on back lane which night club patrons used to go home and fire alarm announcement at 2.30 am in room but false alarm. Luggage storeroom great. Long line wait to check in 30 minutes and also check out. Excellent breakfast. Staff helpful. .

Our room was pretty basic, very small, no view and a long walk from the elevator.
Location was great and staff were attentive and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful.

Great breakfast, great location, friendly staff, and overall a nice hotel. There is much to do within walking distance of this hotel.

The bathtub was difficult to use for regular shower use. I guess it is time to upgrade all the bathrooms to regular shower spaces.
The location was part of the famous “Bryggen” cluster. Public parking was next to the hotel with stair access to the hotel. Very convenient. Rooms were large & spacious.

The rooms are a bit dated and the staff are perfunctory rather than particularly helpful. There was no concierge to assist with luggage or transport. There are a lot of tour groups coming through the hotel which can hold things up at check in and check out.
The location is fantastic in Bryggen. Walking distance to cruise terminal, surrounded by fantastic restaurants and shops and very close to the Fish market. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is also very good.

It was clean, spacious and welcoming. Green plants added a relaxing ambiance. The position of the hotel was superb, within a few minutes of the fish market, ships for tours and cruises and great bars and restaurants.

The automatic light switch control through the room key card didn't work so room had no lighting and had to switch. Hair dryer in second room with two single beds, not double, didn't work. They do need to do a better job of pre-testing the rooms to make sure everything works.
Staff nice, great location. Bar staff extremely nice and informative. But, the automatic light switch engaged by the room card did not work, they then transferred us to an inferior room with two single beds. No compensation. Did provide free breakfast due to other issues which was really appreciated. If it weren't for the faulty light switch I would give this place a 10+ rating.

We arrived on Constitution Day and the place was thronged. This was not the hotel's fault, of course, they made a 'killing'.
The location was perfect for walking to facilities and right across the road from the mooring for a very good fjord cruise. The airport bus leaves regularly from just outside the hotel. The beds were very comfortable.

Some strange room configuration. Our room was on the 5th floor and was narrow mostly due to the girder trusses that reduced the available space. It was also dangerous to possibly hit your head as they were steel.

The hotel and Booking.com need to collaborate to ensure the guest that books through Booking.com gets a room that is convenient to access. Our room was 492 which was far away and a convoluted path to get to.

The room allotted to us was in one remote corner of the hotel. In fact it was an attic room overlooking another roof.
Location, Location, Location. Ample breakfast with a wide variety. Nespresso coffee maker in room.
