The Godley Hotel offers country-style accommodation in the alpine village of Lake Tekapo on the South Island. The hotel is centrally located in the village with views of the lake and mountains. Room is good enough for 1 ppl stay! Near to lakeside. Old but comfortable.

MacKenzie Country Hotel is located in Twizel, in the heart of the Aoraki Mount Cook and MacKenzie Country Region. It offers modern rooms with picturesque views of the surrounding mountains. Very friendly staff. Loved the log fire in the bar and the smorgasbord dinner was.yummy.

This was a great place in Lake Tekapo. The community was quiet, the kitchen was fully equipped, the bathroom nice and had a wonderful hot shower with high pressure, and the beds were SO comfy and had a much-needed heated pad. We had a car so it was a 4-minute drive to Four Square grocery (where you can walk to the Tekapo waterfront), but we also walked, and it took about 20-25 minutes, so depending on what you'd prefer, it's still reasonably close for those without a car. One thing to note, but not necessarily a bad thing, they do have a washer, but only a drying rack. This didn't bother me, but just wanted to let others know. Overall the stay was very cozy and I would absolutely come back here.
