« The outstanding feature of Kavvayi is its proximity to both the backwaters and the sea. It is on a sliver of island barely 100 meters wide, so you can experience both the sunrise from your veranda and sunset on a deserted beach just a couple of minutes walk away. The owner, Ranjit, is a very sweet man who works hard to please, as does his staff. Rooms are rustic but serviceable, and bathrooms are fine. A/C works well, but fans are all you really need for nighttime. Food is excellent, with an emphasis on seafood, sometimes 3 kinds of fish in a single meal. A highlight was a sunset boat ride to an island where 1000s of birds of many species make a stop. »

« The caretaker Mr Ramattan was wonderful and looked after us so well. Arranged trip to see Theyyem - an amazing spectacle. The location is perfect - view the lake at the back and beach at the front. Both less than 25m away. Had the beach to ourselves. Bike rides (bikes loaned by Avisa) to explore local area were fascinating. Just a tuktuk ride from Payyanur station (350 rupees). Food was excellent and local. Highly recommended! »
