“Owing to our tight ferry schedule, we only had 27 hours to spend on El Hierro, but we were kindly let in already in the morning upon arrival, which allowed us to drop off our luggage and our dog and get out for a full afternoon of exploring the island. This made a huge difference to us, as every hour counted. Los Cactus is well situated, only a 20-minute drive from the ferry port (and hence also from the airport), and in a quiet country setting, with a terrace that we could benefit from during our breakfast to enjoy the panorama of La Palma, La Gomera and Tenerife on the horizon. As attested by other guests, the apartment was spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower cabin was spacious & well-equipped with a rain shower. If you have a dog (especially one that is social and can roam free), this is a great place to drop it off to enjoy itself with the owners’ dogs, while you’re out enjoying the island. Mari Carmen and Roberto were very kind and welcoming hosts (and thankfully patient with our broken Spanish) - right up until the farewell drink on Roberto’s delicious homegrown ecological wine. We will definitely go back here next time we’re on El Hierro!”
