The innkeepers were beyond helpful and kind. They made wonderful recommendations on restaurants, museums and attractions. We will most definitely stay here when we return to Salem.
Most of the attractions are within walking distance.

The Salem Witch trial exhibits were very interesting for history lesson.
Red's Diner is highly recommended for breakfast.
Do not miss the Essex Peabody Museum , very large and impressive and the Chinese House is not to be missed.

Such an interesting historical gem of a city.
Such an interesting historical gem of a city. Lots to explore, contemplate and take in. You absorb the witchy vibe in a cool way, but then keep exploring the museums, waterfront, parks and fantastic shops and restaurants. Like a mini-Boston, but more focused.

Salem is a great little city with so much historical significance, beautiful old homes and a fantastic museums. If you have the time, it is well worth a side trip.
Mercy Tavern is also a great spot, lovely food, cocktails and staff.

Anybody that is in to the type of stuff in Salem would love it. Could spend a week there just looking at all the shops. Then you have the tours and self guided paths, you really just have to research what you are into.

Salem is a fun place to visit.
Salem is a fun place to visit. Lots of attractions and activities to keep you busy. Food was great and many places to choose from. We liked Reds, Dire Wolf Tavern and Carmel Patisserie.
I would highly recommend any time of year because of the variety of attractions and places to visit. The Witch Dungeon Museum and the Witch House were among my favorites to visit.
Awesome place for a girls get away. We were able to walk everywhere and see what we wanted. The boutiques and shopping were awesome.
We also did a Psychic Reading and a Witches Circle and Witch City Walking tour. We loved all of them. I would definitely come back and do them again.

The history of Salem is just so..
The history of Salem is just so.. Interesting, colorful, fasinating, rewarding and a little sad. What human beings can doing to each other is unbelievable in both evil and good ways.
We stayed at the Salem INN and loved it. Ate at Turners, Rockafellas and some other places that slip my mind. These two were great.
Used the trolly and walked alot.
So comfy and convenient, can't wait to stay at The Hawthorne again on our future trips to Salem! Loved having the two bathrooms! The hotel was walking distance to everything we wanted to do and having parking was extremely convenient. The delicious complementary lemonade in the lobby was a very nice touch and the beds and linens made for a very restful sleep. Our windows faced the Salem Commons and the Salem Witch Museum. The glow of red at night from the museum was a nice aesthetic when looking out the window.
Absolutely loved this hotel, the staff was wonderful. They called ahead of time to make sure I knew the address, they sent an email and were very thorough so I would know where to park, and extremely friendly when we arrived. The rooms were so clean, the beds are the comfiest I have ever slept on in a hotel, and the location to get around all the hot spots in Salem was wonderful and within walking distance.
Hotel was fantastic, everything was clean the room, bathroom, elevators, lobby and smelled good. Staff were amazing super friendly and ready to help. I loved that it was in the center of everything. We were able to walk everywhere with no issues. Very easy to find your way back to the hotel. We never moved the car until it was time to leave.
The history of the house is just amazing, and the room we had (Marion room) was gorgeous. The host was a really interesting guy and we had a great chat with him. The bnb is in a great location for the heart of Salem village too, close to the wharf and maritime history part while still being close to the shops and restaurants.
The location is great if you are looking to walk around Salem. It has parking so that in and of itself is invaluable, I did expect a little more for the price we paid to stay there, but I'm sure it's the location that drives the price. Clean rooms and friendly staff.
I did a lot of travelling prior to retirement and had the opportunity to stay in some of the highest rated hotels in Canada and the U.S. None of these hotels surpassed the Salem Waterfront. Great facilities and staff was most accomadating.
Amazing communication from the hotel and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Nice traditional hotel. We stayed in Peabody 6 which would sleep 6 with plenty of space. Facilities were great and breakfast was delicious.
Great location and value. The free breakfast and on-site parking were both very convenient. The room was spacious and comfortable. I discuss the hotel in depth in my Better Travel With Food blog.
The location was very good. The staff was very accommodating. Knowing it was an anniversary trip, the hotel gave us a bottle of champagne, chocolates and Salem Inn flutes to use and take with us.
Great location in the heart of Salem (across the street from the Common and the Hawthorne Hotel event space).
The owners were friendly.
The historic space is beautifully cared for.
I loved how central The Merchant is located from everything in Salem.
I absolutely loved the aesthetic of the hotel and the breakfast scones! This place was cozy and fun.
