Beautiful Like a Porcelain Doll
Delft is a picturesque Dutch city with canals and historic buildings, situated between Rotterdam and The Hague. Birthplace of the famous Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer, this destination is also home to the iconic Delft blue porcelain and the University of Technology.
Like a phoenix from the ashes, the 17th century Town Hall of Delft was destroyed on 1618 and rebuilt by the architect Hendrick de Keyser. Located across from the City Hall in the centre of the Market square, the Protestant church of Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) with the imposing tower is connected with the Dutch Royal Family.
Resting place for Piet Hein, Maarten Tromp and Johannes Vermeer, the Oude Kerk (Old Church) was built in 1240 and is one of the main landmarks of the city along with the Prinsenhof. Booking.com offers a variety of apartments and hotels in the centre of Delft.
The Delftware factories with the blue ceramics and the hand-painted porcelain are definitely something that travellers should not miss while visiting the Netherlands. Weather permitting, you can enjoy a local beer on a canal terrace.

Delft is very picturesque and beautiful.
Delft is very picturesque and beautiful. I like everything about this small town, the atmosphere, the shops, the cafes, the restaurants, the nature, including here the ducks on the canals. :-) There is also a good choice to travel by bike in the town, as most of the people do here.

Beautiful quiet little town midway between two major cities. Consider staying here if your trip includes time in The Hague or Rotterdam: it's only a 15 minute train ride to either city and much less hectic (and less expensive). Highlight of our trip was climbing the windmill and seeing it actually operated - for free!

The town is so unique, churches to visit and beautiful squares surrounded by restaurants and cafes. Lovely places for brunch in the mornings and for beer in the evenings. The atmosphere in the evenings is wonderful. It is easy to get around on foot. the view from the New Church roof top is spectacular, tho the 300+ steps are not easy. Recommended eateries are Kek coffee and Delfts BrouwhuisLouiseMalta

The stay was made easier by friendly and communicative staff, willing to help. We took advantage of delicious breakfasts - there was a large selection of food, everything was delicious and fresh. To sum up, Hotel Bridges House Delft is the perfect place to stay in this charming town :)

Compared to all the exaggerated prices you would pay anywhere else in the Netherlands, this hotels seems to offer a very comfortable accomodation for reasonable prices. Despite their location near a very crowded square with lots of restaurants, I had a very nice night of sleep. The location couldn't be more perfect.

Breakfast, included in the room rate, was wonderful. We were sorry to leave. Note that Delft is a great location in itself and conveniently located for side trips to Rotterdam and Den Haag.
