Stunning island setting with view to Isletas and towards Mount Mombacho on the other side of the island. It felt magical as we were the sole visitors. The room was well appointed and luxurious. A shame our hi-tech shower had no hot water, for this price I expect a high end bathroom experience, the water was cold the mini bar was empty and no tea/coffee making facility. The staff however were friendly.

Granada is a beautiful Spanish colonial classic, a must on your trip to Nicaragua. I went straight from Managua airport without staying in Managua .
I also reccomend the Volcanoe cone Appoyo, it is pristine clean water, swimming in a Volcanoe cone. My favorite cafe was the Garden Cafe delicious food and beautiful courtyard setting typical of inner city Granada

I have never seen so many rude, contemptuous residents in most of the center city. They make Parisians look like a welcoming committee. They make a habit of fleecing tourists, both our hostel front desk and a food kiosk blatantly charged us more than they were supposed to and we witnessed atrocious behavior toward other tourists. Maybe 5% of the people we interacted with were friendly.
Service was comically bad in the restaurants we visited. They have plenty of tourists, but haven't learned much in the way of hospitality yet. Grocery stores are expensive with poor selections.
Arriving into Managua was not at all bad. And we are finding San Juan del Sur a joy, although this too is fairly pricey bc of all the American and Canadian tourists. Restaurant food was much higher quality and better value, service was great and everyone has been so very friendly.
So, really, all of our bad experiences were in Granada. I have no intention of returning and don't plan to recommend it to anyone. I hope to have a chance to see more of Managua before I leave.

Granada is a bustling city with nice people.
Granada is a bustling city with nice people. We like the fact that we were close to stores, markers, banks, parks etc..
What we did not like, is that there are no street signs, and since we were driving, we got lost a few times. Also, the beach was picturesque but unfortunately it was littered with garbage everywhere. It was very disappointing.

The churches and the restaurants.
The churches and the restaurants. There was a variety of restaurants and very reasonable prices. It was easy and inexpensive to get a cab home after dinner if we did not want to walk back to the hotel.
The friendliness and hospitality of the people was amazing.

It is an old city with a lot of old historic buildings. The infrastructure definitely needs upgrading. I have heard many good things about the beach area but I did not go to the beach. There are some sketchy areas at night time. So we did not leave on foot at night. if anyone had a reason to go to Granada I would definitely recommend the Hotel Jardin De Granada.

Granada is quaint,and charming.
Granada is quaint,and charming.
Its a great base to explore different venues for day trips and nice to walk around.
It was perfectly safe and outside of a few young children soliciting for $$$ it was a good experience.
Locals were absolutely helpful and the food was good. Excellent selection of dining venues.
One the best hotels we stayed in in Central America! The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, beautiful palm trees, tranquil pool area, the decor was like an old colonial mansion. The staff are super friendly and so helpful with anything you need. The rooms are large, very clean, spacious, super comfy beds, great a/c, strong wifi for work, and the showers had awesome pressure and great hot water. Breakfast spread was so good. And the location is right in the middle of the central park and walkable to all the main attractions. Highly recommend!
Hotel secret garden was a beautiful place. It was so nice to cool off in the pool at the end of each day. The staff were helpful and friendly and responsive by email and WhatsApp. They booked all our taxis and travel needs for us as well as tours and activities. Breakfast each day was delicious. The room was comfortable and the neighborhood was quiet at night. This hotel is not in the center of town, but it’s a 10 min walk and very convenient. Would absolutely recommend this place to others.
We had a great stay at Miss Margrits. The rooms and outdoor area are super nice and cozy and invite you to stay. The hotel is in a great location to explore the city of Granada. Breakfast was a hilight for us every morning. The price-performance ratio is incredible. But the best thing about the hotel is Nohelia and her team who are extremely helpful, friendly, warm and caring! So we extended our stay right away! Thank you for everything, we hope we can come back one day!
First and foremost, Esther the hotel manager is amazing. She went above and beyond to accommodate our needs, provide interesting suggestions for activities, even invited the spa ladies in for us to have mani pedis in the open air courtyard. The rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. Hazel the cook and cleaner is amazing and prepares a delicious breakfast. If you are looking for a small boutique colonial hotel experience, you can't go wrong with Casa Cubana.
Monika and here Team are outstanding. The breakfast is delicious and was served in the beautiful patio with view to the swimming pool and tropical garden. You can hear the sound of birds and see hummingbirds flying around. The hotel is a true secret garden . Just a few minutes walk from the center of Granada, as soon as you enter the door it’s just peace, tranquility & beauty of the nature.
The rooms even have a regular laptop safe so you can enjoy Granada life!
Gabby and Toby greeted us warmly to their beautiful hotel and we’re always available to answer questions, offer advice on things to do and see, and arrange transportation.
The hotel is located on a quiet street, but within blocks of most of the best restaurants in Granada, and the main plaza.
Breakfast was made to order, starting with tropical fruit , followed by four entre choices, and Nicaraguan coffee. The inner courtyard is filled with plants.
I wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Real La Merced. I had a perfect stay there - great room with balcony, excellent breakfasts and the most friendly and courteous staff from reception to housekeeping. Great at organizing trips to volcanos, islets, zip lines etc and a great location for simply wandering around Granada and drinking in its sights, for myriad nearby coffee houses and for great restaurants. Excellent in all respects!
Very beautiful house with its colonial style. Everything is clean and made to feel like home.
Quiet place, close to the center.
Carlos, the owner is very nice and helpful! He brought us to a free tour of the city and gave us a lot of explanation on the history of the city.
Thank you for everything Carlos! I will come back here for sure
It was amazing to find this wonderful hidden hotel in Granada . Miguel, the owner, is so nice, friendly and helpful as well as the staff. The hotel is super clean, has beautiful natural scenery and is super close to the city center. My girlfriend and I loved it. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers.
This was the perfect location for our Granada vacation. It was walking distance to everything in-town, and had a beautiful pool and courtyard area for lounging at the hotel. Breakfast was delicious and the staff could not have been nicer. I would recommend Casa Bubu to anyone and would definitely stay there again!
A beautiful 200 yr old colonial home with an authentic Granada family that was very welcoming, only wish my Spanish was better as I would have loved to chat more with them. Felt like a home stay, rooms were clean, comfortable and the street noise was not an issue. We extended our stay 2 nights without difficulty.
Beautiful colonial home for a group of friends. Private house with 4 bedrooms, pool, very central in Granada and close to everything. Very safe and secure, our host Reina was very accommodating and helpful. Good wifi, and overall a very good stay in Granada.
Casa Delias is located a few minutes from Granada's cathedral. It's a colonial house with a nice garden and quiet rooms. It's convenient and you can use their patio and kitchen too. The owners are really friendly.
I booked a deluxe double room and it was perfect, like a hotel room! AC was great and pool area was nice with hammocks. Very good kitchen. Location was good as well. Staff was also nice!
Great little hotel in Granada. Super friendly staff, nice little pool and garden, typical Nicaraguan breakfast and impeccable rooms. Very quiet, just 3 blocks to the very center of town
The ambiance was the best! It was quiet and there was a lot of space so it did not feel crowded even with a full hotel. We loved the pool, the breakfast, and the staff.
