Jūrmala is a coastal gem that effortlessly blends nature and elegance. The pristine beaches are a paradise for relaxation, while the charming wooden architecture adds a touch of whimsy to the town. With its vibrant cultural scene and welcoming atmosphere, Jurmala is a must-visit destination that captivates both the adventurous and those seeking a serene escape.

Lots of food and shopping on Jurmala street, but the whole area is very large so renting bikes or having a car is very important.
Summer would be much nicer but the autumn was very quiet and there were no crowds anywhere.

Jurmala is a must-visit when coming to Latvia.
Jurmala is a must-visit when coming to Latvia. The kilometeres long beach side just 20-30 minutes from Riga, easy to reach both by car and by train. First things to visit are most likely Majori, Dzintari and shopping/walking street that connects both of those places (which also stands for train stops when you buy train tickets). But also Bulduri and Dubulti are good areas to visit, especially if you are a fan of architecture - Jurmala has its own unique style of wooden architecture houses, some of them have been reconstructed and can be perfectly seen between streets (Morbergs summer house is the best example of this). There are plenty of good 4 and 5 star hotels in the center - with good SPA's and restaurant. The best outside restaurant could be "Line 36" - with one of the best Latvian chefs. For active attractions my best suggestion is Livu Aqua Park - inside water attractions park, one of the biggest in Baltics, quite pricey but good for a fun day, especially with kids. There are lots of nature to explore around the city, but all in all I would say that outside the summer season the city will surprise you with the pleasant calmness and fresh air.

We couldn't find anyplace where we could walk the dog on the beach. In general, I didn't get the impression that dogs are appreciated there. Our 5kg Havanese seemed too much for a beach walk in October--even on the leash.

Nice town with long beach near Riga.
Nice town with long beach near Riga. A varitey of restaurants and leisure activities are available.
Unfortunately the summer seasons ends mid of august so that as late august traveler the beaches and town seem a little like a ghost town and a lot of restaurants, activites etc. are already closed

great location, right on the beach with every possible facility available. a short walk to the shopping area where we bought souvenirs and had coffee. The hotel restaurant had an exclusive feel and the food was excellent. We will definitely return again.
Extremely recommended apartment at Naiza Guesthouse. Very spacious, clean and well equipped. Quiet and with fantastic location just 15 minute walk from the main restaurant and shopping street and from the beach. Kitchen with gas stove (big plus) and available cleaning cervice upon request (included in the price). Nadjejda is very nice and happy to help. Another plus is that you could darken the apartment completely for those who are light sensitive and the bed is very comfortable too. Big sofa in the living room! A definite 10/10!
Beautiful, eclectic and authentic experience staying in the traditional villa in Jurmala, just 2 minutes away from the beach. Enjoyed so much to watch the sunsets. The room was very spacious, with gorgeous wooden windows overlooking a well kept garden. There were all the facilities we needed, a kitchenette and a washing machine. We were very pleased with the parking near the villa. Lovely cafes and restaurants nearby. Just 30 minutes walk to the main pedestrian street in Jurmala.
The hotel is far from the city center, but the beach is very close, just few minutes on foot and you are there. Some advantages of the hotel:
1. The parking place. There is enough space where to leave a car.
2. Spa and pool area.
3. Gym area. There is a lot of sport equipment. Minus that the sport premises is too hot.
4. Breakfast. There is plenty of options what to eat.
5. Silence. Everywhere you can feel a silence.
A wonderful place from all points of view. The apartment is located in the very center of Jurmala close to all restaurants and shops. And at the same time the room was very quiet. Our room was spacious enough and included everything needed for an extended stay. I especially want to thank our hostess Tatiana who always answered the phone instantly and was ready to help solve any problems. Our vacation was great!
The two-story room was great, very beautiful, spacious and getting a lot of sun. The hotel staff was amazing, very helpful and polite (like most people in Latvia I met). The included breakfast was very good. Overall this is a very cosy hotel with a gorgeous design and a great location (10 minutes from beach by feet). I definitely recommend it and I would love to come back one day.
The location is great.
The hotel is located in a high-end area with good shops & restaurants around such as Gan Bei & The Lavias.
The staff are lovely & attentive.
The 1.5hr access to the Spa is amazing.
The breakfast has a good variety of food to be selected from.
The receptionists were super great by recommending & booking the restaurants for us outside the hotel.
The hotel is in a very quiet area but only a few minutes walk from the beach. Although it's quite far from the main centre of Jurmala and the restaurants, shops etc. there is a regular bus service from the end of the road and it only costs 50 cents! The breakfast was pretty good and the room, although small, was very comfortable.
Cozy atmosphere, close to Dubunti station and to the beach in Jurmala, supermarkets around the corners as well. The spa treatments are a plus. The hotel is nicely decorated and the bed is super comfortable, which make our stay and rest perfect. I’d highly recommend it. Rooms are bigger than average.
Probably the best place to stay in Jurmala! :) Spacious, still very cozy rooms, very clean and thought through details what you can need during the stay. Absolutely positive and very helpful staff at the reception. Location is perfect for both visiting the beach and going to the center.
The location, the amazing staff, the history of the villa and the area. The hotel is located in a charming part of Jurmala and has a homely atmosphere. The breakfast is amazing and they offer so much choice and make an effort to please every traveller. Amazing!
Nice apartment, great location close to main pedestrian street, beach and all major attraction in Jurmala. Gated parking, loads of outdoor space with seating area and BBQ. In the fridge you can find compliments for breakfast. Over all it was nice experience.
The location of the hotel is great - right on the beach. The room was clean and spacious, beds were comfortable. Good breakfast. The hotel was offering sparkling wine and cupcakes for all the guests every afternoon.
Very quiet place, away from city rush. There are frige, microwave and kettle in the shared kitchen. Nice grill place in courtyard. Only 15 min walk from beach.
The hosts are very friendly.
- Good location, pretty close to main pedesstrian street and not so far away from the beach
- Most of stuff you need are there
- Good value compared to other bookings in Jurmala
Very good value for money. Spacious room, very clean. Calm location but very close to Jomas street and close to the beach. spacious parking for the car.
