Cozy and clean rooms in a small complex on the 864 unpaved road. Beautiful place with no other surrounding buildings and overlooking a small river and the fields. The check-in is at the Grimstunga Guesthouse and you have to drive around 6 km to reach the room. The hotel has very well equipped shared kitchen and good WiFi.
Set on Lake Myvatn’s northern shore, this property is 5 minutes’ drive from Myvatn Nature Baths. On-site facilities include a communal kitchen, small convenience store and bicycle rental.

The Location was really close to the sights around Myvatn and next to a lava field. We really liked the breakfast buffet, they even had vegan options. Also it was possible to cook our own dinner at the kitchen of the hostel which was nice.
Located within 1.6 mi of Myvatn Nature Baths, Birkilauf in Myvatn has a number of amenities, including lake and mountain views.

The host went above and beyond to help guests in the local area! Our car was stuck in a snow drift about 400 m away from the house, and he drove out at 9pm to rescue us and pull us out of the snow. The accommodations themselves were also fantastic. The kitchen was very well-stocked (with basic breakfast ingredients as well as cooking pots/pans), and we made good use of the washer/dryer!
Eldá Guest house is located in Reykjahlíð, just a few minutes on foot from Lake Myvatn. There is a golf course 2461 feet from the property. Each room includes a work desk, a sink and free WiFi.

Very friendly staff, clean rooms, and quiet. Location is nice, close to amenities.
It's a beautiful lava field and lake system. Old volcanos and lava flows. Dimmuborgir is a legendary place where the Yule Lads sleep through the summer. Bear in mind that the summer can have hatches of midges.
Krafla Power Station, active geothermal mud pools, Mývatn Nature Baths.
If you travel in the winter it's a great place to see the Aurora as practically no light pollution.
Obviously it's not as nice as Akureyri, but I would say that as I live there

Myvatn Lake certainly has beautiful scenery and the weather is typically warmer than the coast. For the full service/hotel travelers I would recommend Fosshotel. For campers there is plenty of accommodations.

So much to see and do in this area!
So much to see and do in this area! Thankfully we were up and out just after nine! We packed in so much! Lots to see down the eastern side of the lake. Each activity offered us something different and unusual that we hadn’t experienced before. The thermal baths there, although smaller than the Blue Lagoon, are much cheaper and actually offer senior rates. Two pools, one warmer than the other and one sort of large hot tub area. Well worth the money! The cakes in the restaurant there and the coffee were some of the best we’ve had and are reasonably priced. They also have larger meals and soups on offer.

Myvatn is a beautiful lake, and the surroundings have plenty to offer to visit and for hiking. It has a great variety of scenic points and shorter and longer walks. At Skutustadir is a nice information centre that also a small exhibition explaining the origin of the circle of craters over there.

Although it was a long drive from the west of Iceland, it was well worth it. There are so many hidden gems: 2 grottos, a fissure off the beaten path, a nature bath that rivals blue lagoon, and so much more. It's also not crowded due to the location. Well worth the drive!
Breakfast was fantastic. The overall feeling about the Hotel is that it's caring for the environment, and we humans are part of the environment. The linens are cleaned without scented detergent. This is the first time in all of our travels that my husband hasn't been allergic to the room. The buffet breakfast is likewise varied and healthy. I felt very safe and comfortable with the COVID precautions taken by the hotel. It's also in the perfect location for visiting both the Myvatn Nature Baths and Husavik.
Comfortable, well equipped lodge with 4 guest rooms and communal kitchen, dining, living area. Host helpful and provides good range of food to make your own breakfast. Very nice, well equipped kitchen, including washer / dryer which was very useful, and well used by guests whilst we were there. Good location not far from main road and very close to Lake Myvatn and its attractions. Supermarket not far away in Reykjahlio where there is also very good fish and chip take away.
The room is really spacious. There is a pool table and dart in the lobby. The tea and coffee in the restaurant are self-service, even including a bottle of honey and milk, so you can have them as much as you like. There are even two hot wooden tubs and a sauna outside, though we didn't use them. The breakfast has a wide variety of foods. The hotel is right beside a walking trail around the lake.
The campground hosts were very helpful in providing information. The huts are close to a supermarket/gas station and Myvatn lake seems like a vacation spot for the locals. I really liked having a porch to sit on at the end of the day. We used the kitchen of the hostel down the road. The campground bathrooms and showers were kept clean and were walking distance from the huts.
We really enjoyed our stay in the hut as it was warm and comfortable. The location not far from lake Myvatn is great and the staff very friendly and helpful. Check-in at the campsite was very easy (with this wind, we were very happy not having to stay in a tent...)
Best of all of course was the breakfast - it was excellent and even had lava bread!
probably one of my favorite properties to stay out! Definitely make a reservation and eat dinner here. It was one of our best meals in Iceland. Complete farm to table type of food and service. rooms are older, but very comfortable and spacious. Loved petting the cows and being on the farm. Beautiful views of the lake.
This is my favorite place in Iceland. A working farm with a lovely hotel and fabulous restaurant. The cows are friendly, the staff is excellent, and the rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. It's right in the middle of the Myvatn area, close to everything (lake, lava fields, hiking, etc.)
This was a great place to stay while we explored the area around Lake Myvtan. It was clean and had amazing views! Our room was spacious and the heated towel bar was a nice addition - helped us dry out our gear from the nature baths. Our first stay at a FossHotel - very impressed!
Aside from the great location in Myvatn and the friendly owner and staff - the breakfast buffet is spectacular with home grown and local food products. Easily one of the best breakfasts I have while traveling.
The location is very good, close to the lake. The owner of the property is a very nice person. had a nice and informative talk after dinner. This hotel is more a family house with a pleasant atmosphere.
The hotel is fantastic, and located in a dramatically beautiful spot in Myvatn Lake. The restaurant and lobby bar were nice, and our room, even being small, was nice and modern.
Excellent location. We ended our night with a visit to the Myvatn Nature Bath and started the next day with a yummy breakfast next the Myvatn lake. What more to ask.
Propably the best place to spend night at Myvatn Lake, rooms are comfortable, and they serving great breakfast (open table), also you can take coffee to go.
the location and views can’t be beat! it was a great base for exploring the Lake Myvatn area. staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great!
