Amazing hotel - even better than our expectations. The staff (front desk, restaurant, bar) were each friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful (great blackout curtains). DInner at The Grill was wonderful. We really enjoyed the walking trails.

Spirited Kilkenny was Ireland’s capital in the Middle Ages and although many monuments remain from back then, it’s now best known for the 'craic'. Kilkenny cream ale flows in pubs forming part of its legendary nightlife and tours of Smithwick’s showcase Ireland’s oldest operating brewery, on grounds containing the St Francis Abbey ruins.
Kilkenny has the most medieval churches in Ireland. Dating to the 13th-century are the Black Abbey and St Canice’s Cathedral, next to the Round Tower - the only remains of a 9th-century monastery founded by the saint.
Medieval streets, inns and wall remnants still stand, but the most impressive attraction is Kilkenny Castle, in large gardens by the River Nore. The 3-turreted fortress was a former home of the once powerful Butler family.
The Parade leads from here past high street shops to The Tholsel – the porticoed town hall. The Elizabethan merchants’ residence Rothe House is in a similar style. Wandering the colourful streets you can’t fail to notice buildings named after cats, a reference to the residents’ dogged determination. Local hurling team The Cats play at Nowlan Park, and the city hosts the annual Cat Laughs comedy festival, amongst others.
Booking.com’s Kilkenny accommodation includes hotels with spas and pools, and city centre guest houses near the train station.
Lovely town with plenty to visit, good pubs and restaurants.
Lovely town with plenty to visit, good pubs and restaurants. Nice walking path near the river. Easy navigation around the sights. Good spots for Irish traditional music in the evening. Nice bookstore on High street. In the morning, we ventured farther, across the river, and found more things to visit beyond where we visited on our prior visit.

The imposing Norman castle complex which is 900+ years old is largely intact and well worth a visit even if you think you are not a 'history person'. Guided tour is worthwhile. Also visit the artists workshops in the stables complex opposite as well as adjacent park and gardens.
After the castle go to the related St. Canice's Cathedral. The streets between still have a historic character with old buildings and shop fronts and plenty of places to shop, eat and drink with a predominance of independent traders. Kilkenny is compact and easy to walk round but people with mobility difficulties should check as some parts are steep or served by steps. Kilkenny is close to the main motorway network and would make a good touring base.

We visited for a boys weekend away, 9 years after our last visit and it did not disappoint. So many great independent bars to work your way through, all in close proximity, most with an authentic Iriah feel to them. As usual, the Irish welcome is excellent with live music on tap too. Great place for a boozy weekend.

I loved this mediaeval city .bursting with history and street art , culture, and so many unique and quirky shops. I also love learning about history and loved how many different places I could see and learn about here. The highlights were the castle tour and the shennagins walking tour .
We started in the Garden area, which was difficult because of all the doorways and stairs we had to navigate with the wheelchair. Once we were moved to the hotel building, it was much easier. The staff was very understanding and accommodating, even moving the trundle bed for us. The breakfast was the best one on offer during the 3 weeks we visited Ireland. Your location was great - close to the train/bus station, and all the attractions were within an easy walk.
From the moment we arrived Brendan the day porter was very friendly helpful and welcoming the night staff were just as much and any questions we had they were more than happy to answer our room was spacious and comfortable the location itself was only a short drive from the city centre it was in a busy but very quiet spot with good access other routes should you wish to venture further afield over all very happy with our stay and would definitely stay again
Staff in the hotel are very friendly and welcoming. The location is great as it's in the city centre. Breakfast was lovely and a good choice. Room was nice but basic enough. Beds were very big and comfy which is a great bonus. The staff make this hotel....from the reception staff, bar staff (night porter was lovely and friendly) and the staff in the breakfast room they were all fantastic.
Great little B&B offering free parking near the city centre. Owners are very friendly, allowing us to park our car early and check in early as the room was ready. Great to be able to park and freely explore Kilkenny. Lovely breakfast, including vegetarian breakfast, and all round great stay. Beds were comfy and room was nice. Homely decor.
From start to finish everything was perfect! The staff the hotel itself! Everything! Perfect for couples, girls/lads weekend or families! Something for everyone and smack in the city centre! Food was amazing too! We had planned to check other restaurants out in Kilkenny but the food was so good we didnt care to look anywhere else ☺️
Staff were very friendly overall and helpful when we ran into an issue with the internet. Loved hanging out at the bar - Phillipe was great! Loved the breakfast buffet - great variety and good food. The location is perfect and the view of the castle is a nice bonus. Easy to walk to the hotel from the train station.
The food in the bar was really good. The staff very nice and attencious, very hard working even with the low staffing. The cocktails Cosmo and Strawberry Daiquiri is a must. It was our Anniversary and they really looked after us. Location only 5 min away from city centre. Bed very comfy.
The layout of the apartment was great, the rooms were spacious with great views of the city. Easy access to the station, shopping centre and city centre was a bonus.
It was clean and lovely little touches like butter and jam sachets, but the scones were a very welcome treat.
My wife has celiac and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a safe breakfast to eat, even bringing us out extra food because there wasn’t as much we could eat from the continental buffet. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the hotel is in a good location.
The hotel is very well located and nicely decorated. The cocktail lounge was lovely with a variety of specialty cocktails to discover. The breakfast was a good way to start the next day. Kilkenny is a very charming town and I wish we had more time to explore.
The hotel is located smack in the city centre so altough it rained all weekend it was easy to get around with being soaked. The interior of the hotel was also lovely and the beds were quiet comfortable compared to some hotels we have stayed in.
Restful place to be thanks to convenient parking, delicious dinner and good service in the pub. The desk staff was gracious and informative. Sweet breakfast and lunch cafe. Place is an easy 20 minute walk from Kilkenny castle and city centre.
Location was perfect, room was very nice and comfortable, it's a beautiful hotel overlooking the Kilkenny Castle, the staff was very nice, parking was easy and good and breakfast was excellent, one of the best we had in Ireland.
