We chose this resort because it had a wonderful sandy beach area for swimming and an included water park for the kids. Because the water park is private to the resort, the lines were very short even during our peak season visit, so each day my kids had their fill within 1.5 hours, which allowed us to enjoy the beach and pools. Since the location is very remote, the all-inclusive package/meals made everything so easy. We found the food to have lots of variety and great quality. Our room was at the very back of the resort, next to the water park, but we still had sweeping sea views, and everything on the property was kept beautifully clean at times.
Bali Star is built amphitheatrically on a small peninsula in Bali, with a great view of the port. It offers large grounds with free deck chairs and playground, a pool and a beach bar.

Our room with sea view was spacious and very nice, the a bit more expensive rooms are worth the money. We were glad we didn't book a room with shared pool, because we found out, those would lack a bit of privacy. We had a room in the floor above the pool rooms which was perfect. All staff is very welcoming and friendly, except the reception desk lady.

This village Perama is located close to the highway between Chania and Heraklion and offers a good starting point to discover the north side of Crete. Lots of beaches, nature, caves, monestries as well cultural ellements to discover. You need a car though but that is true for whole Crete. Less comfortable to discover the south of Crete as you have to go around the mountain and that takes time. Perama has a couple of good supermarkets and some smaller restaurants. Good pizeria/gyros place at the entrance crossing next to the supermarket.
I would recommend to drive a little further to the coast for nicer restaurants with sea view. About 15 minutes.
