Inuvik is a terrific place, but my warning is about meals.
Inuvik is a terrific place, but my warning is about meals. It is difficult to find open restaurants (none in the AM) so I recommend bringing in groceries or going to the store to purchase picnic essentials.

We only stayed in Inuvik on our way to and from Tuktoyaktuk.
We only stayed in Inuvik on our way to and from Tuktoyaktuk. There is only a takeout restaurant in town but the food was good. There is very little to do, so simply passing through was perfect. Frankly, would not recommend Inuvik as a place to spend much time.

A few things to see in the town with buildings and a food...
A few things to see in the town with buildings and a food market on Saturdays, mostly came here for the area around which was beautiful and barren! Ate out a couple of nights at Roosters which offered usual burgers and pizzas. Value for money here isn’t great but you’re almost at the end of the road so someone’s got to pay to bring all the goods up this far north,,,

We were 24 hours in Inuvik, just right for us.
We were 24 hours in Inuvik, just right for us. Olav from Arctic Chalet toured us around the town - very interesting and informative tour about the buildings, geothermal units, utilidors, and the Igloo Church. A highlight was meeting the Mayor, Natasha, and having our picture taken with her - very personable! Olav then dropped us off at Alestine's restaurant where we enjoyed the delicious fish tacos that they are known for. Transportation by taxi is on the expensive side - a trip from town to the Arctic Chalet, about 2 km, was $25 for 4 people. Their tourist season is short, so you can't blame them. The Arctic Chalet is a great place to stay, just outside town, very comfortable chalets with full amenities.
