We were nervous about the food but it exceeded all expectations. Highly recommend for a trip in Kamikochi. Brilliant location to climb Mount Yakedake.

Located in the historical Shibu Onsen district, 渋温泉小石屋旅館 offers both private and dormitory-style guest rooms as well as an on-site restaurant where local dishes, wines and craft beers are available. Amazing staff who were really helpful by providing information and transportation when needed. I was in the shared room / dorm which was quite spacious for three people. They provided clear indications regarding the onsen system. Breakfast options were nice. I recommend it.

Boasting open-air hot spring baths, a heated indoor pool and beautiful Japanese gardens, Senjukaku offers traditional Japanese-style accommodation that has a historic charm. Breakfast was great. Onsen pools were perfect. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

A 7-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Yorozuya features hot spring baths, a hot tub and Japanese-style rooms with a private terrace and private bathroom. ארוחת הערב היתה נפלאה, גם לחיך מערבי. האונסן מעולה. הכל נקי, מאורגן ,מאובזר בנדיבות.

Situated just a 5-minute walk from historic Togakushi Shrine, Oshi Ryokan is traditional lodging accommodation in the peaceful mountain area, which used to cater for pilgrims. The owners were amazing and did everything to make our stay wonderful. I was sick and they made me a special ginger tea which helped me a lot.

Only a 10-minute drive from Snow Monkey Park, Yudanaka Onsen Yamazakiya offers simple Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi. Akira and his mother were incredibly accommodating and made us feel at home. They made me dinner and breakfast (gluten free and vegetarian) which was amazing. Their private Onsen is lovely and the room was really comfortable. Would highly recommend

A 3-minute walk from Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort, Kadowakikan features ski-to-door access, a hot spring bath and free WiFi. The host is super nice, he gave us a very detailed introduction to Nozawaonsen and helped us with many questions that we didn't understand. We had some good chats. The location is nice, close to Nozawa shuttle bus station, and a public onsen (soto-yu). ~5-10 minutes walk to the village centre. The room we stayed in is Japanese style. The tatami and futon are very clean and comfortable. Great view of the mountains. There is a private sink where you can wash your face and brush your teeth. The toilet and shower are shared, but there are many spaces and they are all very clean.

ריוקאן יודנקה טאוואראיה (Yudanaka Tawaraya Ryokan) הממוקם במרחק של 5 דקות הליכה מתחנת הרכבת יודנקה (Yudanaka), מציע יחידות אירוח בסגנון יפני עם אינטרנט אלחוטי חינם וטלוויזיה בעלת מסך שטוח. The service as this Ryokan was 10/10, and was the most authentic one we stayed in during our 4 weeks in Japan. The staff were so lovely, and spoke great English. They showed us to our room, and gave us essentially a "room tour" whilst we drank complimentary tea. They gave us a map with nearby restaurants and ammenties noted on it. The private outdoor onsen was SO nice! You book a slot upon arrival, which you can access in the evening with 30 min slots. The onsen was large and the perfect contrast with the fresh cool air in the evening. Yukatas were provided for us as an option to wear around the hotel - both my partner and I are bigger than the average Japanese person (Wife is plus size, I am 6ft 2) and we both comfortably fit into the ones picked out for us. The only thing that threw us was that during breakfast, they cleared the beds from our room - had we known people would go in, we'd probably have neatened the room a bit haha! P.S don't skip the sushi restaurant a few doors down from the hotel. The sushi was EXQUISITE and they even have a phonetic Japanese to English page at the front so you can have a go at ordering properly with the chef.
