We really enjoyed the lodge. It was nice and private. The room was wonderful, I really enjoyed waking up to the beesbok running around. Very close to Clarens and a short drive to Golden Gate.

The pool, which is still on the Google pics isn’t available anymore. And there are no toys for kids, so bring it with you.

It’s a lovely quiet place in the mountains - very lonely. If you seek silence, then you are right here. The Golden Gate Park is quite close with nice hikes, but there are hikes too close to the lodge.

Breakfast was served promptly every morning. We stayed in the single-story king room and the views were breath taking. The sunrise was directly in front of your door and we also had early morning visitors - Wildebeest, Zebra and Blesbok

It isn't quite as easy to get back & forth to town as described. Breakfast could offer more than just normal eggs & bacon. Walks should be better marked and mapped.

My wife and 3 daughters under the age of 6 really enjoyed every moment. The views are unreal! The peace and quiet is just so re-energizing. The staff were beyond amazing. Silas and Maggie looked after us for the entire stay. The rooms were spotless and super well kept. Will definitely be back.

The breakfast could be better, I prefer my bacon crispy and my eggs to have crispy edge.

The owners are very responsive over text, they have clear consistent communication. The staff welcome you and give you a tour of your room. The beds have electric blankets, which is great for a Free State winter. The views are amazing, and there are wildlife roaming the grounds.

These are very minor things but I think the bathroom needs a bath mat for getting out the shower and the towels provided could be a lot bigger. Wi-Fi needs to be fixed, we could not connect to it at all.

The view from the room is exceptional. The fireplace and electric blanket really helps with the cold in the evenings and really made the stay so comfortable. We didn’t want to leave.

We had the BEST BEST time at De Ark Mountain Lodge thank you SO much! Each day was such a huge blessing! Everything was just PERFECT! Our breakfast each day was SUPER delicious👏🏻 Silas realy made so much effort and his friendlyness was just so welcoming. He also took us to c the "San drawings"and my girls realy realy enjoyed that so much. Our house we stayed in was Beautifull with the best view. That chimney was a sure winner made it so cozy and warm❤️ Thank you so much for everything we also hope to come again in the future, time just went by way to fast.

Nothing really. Just expect to take longer on the gravel road than what the GPS says, especially if you’re not driving a 4x4. But the view is definitely worth it.

Amazing views and a chance to see some wildlife. Kelly was great in offering us a different room as we had 2 kids with under 2 and organised for an extra bed and a cot for us. It made the trip so much more enjoyable having our babies near. The breakfast was really good too.

The place wasn't too well kitted out for a braai. There seems to be a photo of a pool in the place if you Google search it, but there is no pool - this was stated in our check in message. Initially didn't enjoy the very early check in times where we were not allowed to check in later (can be off-putting) - however this was well handled by check in staff and they were able to make a plan for us.

The view was stunning, the bed super comfy, lovely warm fireplace, liked the camper chairs for outside and the Braai place. Pretty hike. Friendly and helpful staff
