Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Had to use my phone to work the TV, got a staff member to set up took awhile, he hadn't done it before. If I didn't have a phone does that mean I wouldn't have been able to watch TV?

The television had netflix, but the WiFi wouldn't work to let us actually log in or watch anything (we did ask reception, but they were unsure how to fix the issue). The bed was also very high for someone who is only 5ft2, I had to jump up onto it. I was also surprised to find out they took a $100 deposit that took 4 days to be refunded. Most places would just take details for a card and keep that on file.
The room was lovely with a very big and comfortable bed and massive TV. We had all the amenities e.g. hairdryer, iron, ironing board. The bathroom was a great size with lovely lighting. The price was great and the location was fantastic.

Lack of windows. There is no outlook.
We have overnighted at Microtel before. However this time I found the lack of windows to be rather claustrophobic and will not stay again. The room, facilities and staff are all good and I know there are two really high small windows up in the ceiling area however it does not personally suit me.

Fridge still had a bit of food spill, bit of dust and spots around switches, door handle, and bed side table. Plug in basin was loose but managed to screw it back on no worries. But I understand cleaning can be stressful when your have a deadline. Bed a bit hard.
Staff great easy check in, location is close to most places in the city. Modern and tidy reception bar area. Good room has most of your basic needs need was nicely made and pretty clean. Wifi great.

I loved the cosy space, everything you need carefully put together to create a snug atmosphere. Staff were very helpful with retrieving and sending a lost item.

No resturant, there was no food available, and the TV had to be chromecasted from your phone which I had to get staff to come and fix as it didn't work at first.
It was very clean and comfortable. Handy for walking around the town to all the touristy attractions.

Lack of two comfortable chairs for watching tv.
Well located. Front office staff member at 7pm was great and did everything to book us in, show us the out of hours system to get into the hotel and give us info on eating places in the area etc. He was excellent. Washing machine and dryer were a real help. No breakfast at the Ramada.

Bit of long hair in the bathroom but no big deal. I got stuck in the lobby after hours because they lock the door that gets you to the ground floor rooms. Then I found out you can get to them via the car park but there's no signs saying that. Stay away from the electronic check in at the door and go to the restaurant to check in. It said I was going to get charged an authorisation tax that was more expensive than the room.
The thing I liked the most was the large modernised showers with really good water pressure as well as the relatively cheap beers. Another thing that was hand is there are parks for uber pickups across the road. The Chromecast TV and the chicken cranberry pizzaa were also good. The staff are nice.

The automatic check in did not initially work and I had to get the bar staff to assist me. Also initially, the system deducted $208 off my Visa with no explanation as to the $100 damage deposit. This caused me some consternation and even more so when our communications with the Microtel subsequently were not responded to. We had to contact booking.com for the explanation on the $100 damage deposit. The bed in the room was against the wall so this would have been difficult if my wife had accompanied me.
Close proximity to the activity I came to Wellington for and met my needs on this occasion. Because of the nature of my visit to Wellington I did not need to use any of the hotel facilities other than the room so cannot rate these. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and tidy.

There was a corner that was cleaned properly. Informed the reception staff but nothing was done.
Central to the city centre. Great that late check in was possible. The room was overall comfortable (warm, bed was comfy, shower has good water pressure).
