Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsBed was advertised on booking as larger than 2 meters long and as extra large bed. That is important to me, and a reason to choose a property or not. But in actuality the bed was very short. I’m 1.93m and my feet were dangling fully outside of the bed. I had to sleep in a fetal position for five nights. The bed is the most important thing in a hotel. And I feel like this is false advertising, since they explicitly advertise the room with an extra long bed. My complaint about this wasn’t addressed at all during five nights. All communication stopped at that point. There were so many closets, but so little closet space. They were very shallow, so we couldn’t store our bags in them and therefore our room was filled with our bags. Form over function. Breakfast had to be ordered downstairs every day. There’s a phone in the room, but not a menu. This means you have to get up, shower, dress, go down and order. Then they’ll bring the breakfast up after 30 mins. It would be much more relaxing if you could order on a form the night before. On Saturday there was a lot of loud noise from a party nearby. Other nights not. Room was fairly small for the (steep) price. Nowhere near the advertised 51m2. The terrace was large though. Because there is no bar, I was happy there is a stocked minibar. But at this room price they could have included that like many Mexican hotels do. The place has a kitchen and about five people just being there 24 hours a day doing nothing else but opening the door for you and serving breakfast. Why not let them bring drinks and snacks? It must be very boring for them as well to just hang around all day with no other purpose than to open the door when you ring the bell. (You can’t enter on your own). There are just four rooms with five staff members. This feels kind of awkward.
The house is beautiful. It’s amazing. It looks like museum. Very architectural and with art. The room, bathroom and terrace were beautiful. Very tranquil and secluded. Very clean. Turndown service. Delicious breakfast. The location is perfect. I thought it would be a walk to the center, but in actuality it’s in the center, but also close to other cool neighborhoods east and north. Couldn’t be better. Some reviews mention street noise, but this didn’t bother us at all. Yes you can hear some cars driving on the road, but it’s not honking horns or like a highway. The outdoor terrace with the beautiful cactus was a very nice place to relax.

AustraliaThe air-conditioning position causes the air to blow on your face. This made us feel a little sick. We opened the door but that allowed mosquitos into the room. These are personal preferences but are things we did not like.
Beautiful boutique bed and breakfast. The staff are so kind and welcoming. Special thanks to merium. The rooms are spacious with an outdoor extension. The entire hotel and rooms have amazing art and is picturesque. The little touches made all the difference. The hotel team organised our trip from the airport. And the hotel was helpful with organising tours and telling about things to do in town. We highly recommend Casa Carmen if you are staying in Oaxaca City.

I loved everything about this beautiful hotel. With only 4 rooms It’s set up to feel more like a home you have been welcomed into. The entire staff was exceptional and went out of their way to attend any need. I loved my room, the huge patio and floor to ceiling windows which bathed the room in natural light. It was such a wonderful place to relax after a day exploring the city. I stayed at a few other boutique hotels while I was in Oaxaca and this was by far my favorite. I will definitely be back.

United States of AmericaWe definitely heard some traffic at night and music on the weekend, however, it didn't bother us. If we shut the bathroom door, it helped to mute the sounds. We've stayed at other hotels in Oaxaca, both large and small, and some noise is part of life in an environment such as this.
Casa Carmen is a beautiful place to stay: we stayed an entire week and loved this oasis. The staff is extremely pleasant, warm, professional, and willing to help out in all kinds of ways!!! Our room (on the ground level) was immaculately clean and we loved having the privacy of the patio. The upstairs rooms and patios are larger (but not available for our trip). The artwork is sublime; we felt like we were sleeping in a gallery. Breakfast is made to order from a creative menu featuring Mexican dishes as well as oatmeal, avocado toast, and yogurt.

The location is wonderful. It is close to the busy center (about 5 blocks) which is great because it’s not as noisy and you don’t get a lot of foot traffic outside of the hotel. very comfy bed and loved the outdoor tub and hammock!

United KingdomNothing ! A gem of a place. Wish we had stayed longer.
Wow! beautiful property, made us feel like it was our home. The genuine reason was the staff, especially Miriam. They went out of their way to make us feel so special. Breakfast was amazing! we were treated to a whole range of Oaxacan specialities, and amazing home made salsas. Best Hot Chocolate we had. The rooms were beautiful, very comfortable beds and lots of outdoor space to relax in. Fantastic location, close walk to some great restaurants and bars. We were able to find parking quite easily on the street. Absolutely loved it, and wish we had stayed a little longer. A true gem of a find.
