The place was close to everything Including the bird sanctuary and the backwater boat rides. It was so cultural and beautiful I would highly recommend a stay there.

Lovely small homestay run by a wonderful family, who took care of my every need (and more) as a solo female traveler. Walking distance to the bird sanctuary (a little dilapidated but worth it for the stork colony) and the lakeshore, and perfect location for walking or cycling along various canals (bikes and directions provided for free). Room was comfortable and well equipped. Breakfasts were fabulous too, as well as conversations with the hosts, who built this charming "wooden castle" as a labor of love. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay in Kumarakon Wood Castle, the rooms were simple but clean, the owner very friendly and helpfull to organize the boat trips, massages or walk around the property. We also had an homemade diner and the prawn curry was really delicious. There is also a nice museum on the top of the house with hundred of vintage items.

There were some very loud power tools being used during my stay which ruined the tranquility somewhat.

There was no mosquito net on the windows and we were fighting off mosquitos all night. We might have missed turning on the bug repellant in the room if there was one but we were not told about it.

The family who owns the place was lovely and helped us with recommendations and bookings. They were also accommodating with our late check in time. The breakfast was home made and very tasty. The place is beautiful and has a very unique decor.

Beautiful room with a balcony to relax. The owners booked us a sunrise boat trip which was wonderful. Can borrow a couple of bikes to cycle around, and delicious breakfast! Highly recommend, thank you for having us and sharing your world.

We highly recommend the Wood Castle! The family running it is super nice and helpful. The mother cooked delicious and generous breakfasts and it was nice to have a chat with the father during breakfast. The son helped us find and arrange activities in the region and was very helpful and kind. The building is also very charming and the rooms comfortable.

I don't think anything in this property is unworthy of liking any grounds. It is just superb!

Kumarakom Wood Castle is excellent for couples and families. The rooms are clean. They also provided toiletry kits, dental kits and clean towels. But the best part is they also keep an electric kettle along with tea kits. The room was just the right size for my family. It had a beautiful balcony too. The wood castle completely takes after its name, for you would see a lot of beautiful wood work in the rooms, and the exterior too. Its located on the main road, and in the vicinity of many good restaurant. The ground floor of the restaurant has an antique shop that sells beautiful and curio items at affordable prices. But the best part of this beautiful place is the amazing hosts. They serve the best breakfast we have ever had while on a vacation. They are very helpful and made our stay very convenient. They even arranged for vehicles for us for visiting places. Besides, the bird sanctuary and the boating office is also close by. We stayed in Kumarakom Wood Castle for three days, and I am very happy I chose this place. At the end of our stay my four year old kid beautifully summed up her stay here with - "Why can't we stay here forever! It is such a beautiful place!" I recommend this place for everyone who visits Kumarakom!

The owners were very warm and we felt just like at home! The room was very clean. They were so kind to help organise our boat trip locally. We didn't stay for dinner, but we had breakfast and it was just delicious. On the ground floor is a shop of beautiful handcrafted items reflecting Kerala's culture. We highly recommend the stay!
