Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IsraelSince it's such a social hostel, sometimes people stayed up until very late at night, and there were a few times when a group was standing underneath our room window, talking rather loudly, which got a little annoying at times, but wasn't a big deal. Overall, if you're a person that prefers not to be around a lot of people, this might not be the place for you. Also, I kind of wish my mattress was a little thicker. But those are all tiny problems that didn't make much of a difference for me.
Wow! What a hostel! The staff was full of attentive, caring and nice people that made me feel welcomed, and helped me with everything I needed. The hostel itself was such a fun place to stay in - the building had a cozy, fresh aesthetic that made me feel at home. There were really fun activities, like a harry potter trivia night and charades. It was really easy to find people to talk to - I made friends here that I'll remember my whole life. I really really recommend this place ^^

IranThe upper bed was hard to reach. There was quite a lot of distance between floor and first step, and it became a struggle in our room for everybody.
I love the atmosphere in the hostel, and the fact that we can store our luggage after check out was a turning point for me.the w.c and shower were clean and new 👌

BrazilFacility is great and location very nice as well - easily access to Vienna's main attractions. I stayed in the private room and loved it. The hostel also has a very nice vibe, with people gathering in the common area at night. Traveling solo or with friends, it's a nice place to stay.

United States of AmericaThe two common room toilets were gross in the evening (but the bathrooms near the bedrooms were fine). Kitchen and laundry needed to be cleaned more frequently too. The first night I stayed in a dorm because a private wasn't available, and the room was too small for two sets of bunk beds. No way to control the heating in the room. The showers are push-button 30-second showers. This gets really annoying really fast. There is no reason for this. It was done under the guise of wanting to save water, but everyone is just gonna keep pushing the button every 15-20 seconds to make sure they have a steady stream of warm water. Get rid of the push-button showers, put in regular showers.
The staff was really nice and could answer lots of questions. The rooms, and the toilets and showers within the bedroom areas were kept clean. Common area lockers for storing your stuff after check-out or before check-in. Laundry facilities on site. Nice Eritrean restaurant diagonally across the street. Large common area for socializing. Activities planned every night including a pay-what-you-can dinner (I didn't eat dinner at the hostel though). Hot water in the shower. Relatively quiet in the bedroom areas, the common area is on the other side of the hostel. Good wifi.

BelgiumThe bar and most of the common rooms close at midnight, which is way too early. While it's big enough, if the common areas were bigger, it would be much much nicer, but that is rather impossible. For some people being split between two buildings might be a minor inconvenience.
I had hesitated between this one and Wombat and I'm so happy I choose Ruthensteiner. It's hands down the best hostel in Vienna for a reason. The crowd is very social, the pay as you wish dinner will bring people together at 8pm, the games that are organized at 9pm are also rather fun, although typically people are so occupied with socializing that they will skip them. Volunteers (who are essentially in fact short-term contract employees) are wonderful and very helpful. The culture of the hostel is in general marvelous. They were unfazed that my group came back at 4am to play tetris. The Line U3 at Wetbanhof is a 5 minute walk and IS MUCH better than U4 (which for me runs in more shady parts of Vienna at least, the western part, before one would reach Kartzplatz) so it's excellent for visiting, as you can reach the Museumquartier at Volkstheater, Stephanplatz for the center and take a tram for Schobrunn nearby also. I have not tried the breakfast nor have I used the kitchens, so I cannot comment on those but I didn't hear anything negative. There is no loud music, and people are in general respectful about not making too much noise, so you can also sleep in peace and skip all social activities if you wish to do so. The solo room was very clean, rather spacious. The decoration was beautiful also. There is free water and free lemonade (made each afternoon) which is awesome. I had a lamp issue which the staff resolved rather promptly and gave me free drinks to apologize. If you want an hostel there is NO REASON to choose anything else, in essence. Just go there.

ArmeniaThere was dust under the beds in room 32, so much that you could see it without watching))). And the breakfast portions were not satisfying. We ordered house breakfast for 2 person , there was only one egg. The doors in the rooms are very noisy as well as the floor. At night it is annoying when someone enters late at night.
The friendly atmosphere in the hostel was exceptional, and the staff was super friendly. The evenings were calm and nice. Bathrooms are clean and comfortable. The water was super good. The kitchen was also good. The common spaces are very useful. The garden is nice too.

CanadaThere dinner only has vegan option so for us who’s none vegan, we have to either cook for ourselves or get food from other restaurants
The location is good. The staffs are nice, helpful and friendly. The hostel is near the subway station and the tram station, you can easily get the the tourist attractions like Schonbrunn Palace etc. It has a few supermarkets and ikea is just around the corner. The bed is comfortable and my roommates were fun and friendly. I’d definitely recommend and return when I visit Vienna again in the future.

CanadaGreat hostel with a good kitchen and great common areas which really contributes to the social vibe. That also had daily activities which also helps. Good location, close to public transportation and walking distance (30 min) to both the city and the Schönbrunn Palace.

United KingdomOur room is facing the street and it is quite noisy at night, people shouting, laughing, chatting loudly on the street. And no one is there to stop them or control a thing. Had bad sleep every day, but they usually stop by midnight. So if you are late sleeper, probably won't be a problem for you.
The first thing I like about this property is the vibe here, people are very friendly, including the staff and my roommates, they're all nice people. The bathrooms and toilets are nice and clean. The bed I stayed in is nice and soft. There are free lockers in the room if you're staying in a bunk bed, and you can lock it with your key card. Socket everywhere. You can lend hairdryer at the reception if needed. The location is quite good, but it is a bit far from the city center. So you can't directly walk to the places of interest. But you can take public transportation (tram and underground), very convenient too. Can take the airport shuttle bus to and from the west train station which is under 10 minutes walk away. The place is quite safe. I watched a musical nearby and walked back at about 22:30 at night. Nothing weird, but I don't recommend female travelers walking alone at night. There is breakfast available and the price is reasonable, according to my opinion.
